Inlays & Onlays in Vancouver

Inlays And Onlays For Stronger, Lasting Tooth Repair

Not every damaged tooth needs a crown — and not every cavity can be solved with a filling. Inlays and onlays offer a smart in-between solution for restoring strength and stability without removing more tooth than necessary.

These custom restorations are designed to fit perfectly into or onto your tooth, reinforcing the area and helping it function like new. They’re made from strong, long-lasting materials like porcelain or composite resin, and are color-matched to blend naturally with your smile.

What’s The Difference?

R

Inlays fit inside the grooves of a tooth — ideal for treating decay or damage that doesn’t affect the cusps (points).

R

Onlays cover a larger portion of the tooth, including one or more cusps — helpful when the damage is more extensive but a full crown isn’t needed.

When Are They Used?

R

When a filling is too large or won’t hold long-term

R

To repair fractured or worn teeth

R

To replace old or broken restorations

R

When you want more strength and stability without a full crown

What To Expect

Getting an inlay or onlay usually takes two visits. At the first, we will remove any decay, prepare the tooth, and take digital scans or impressions. You will receive a temporary restoration while the lab creates your custom piece. At the second visit, we will bond the final inlay or onlay in place and fine-tune the fit.
